Classes start tomorrow, so today is the time to try to make some new friends... but why is everybody so stressed today? Turns out even the simplest things back at home are much more complicated here at Arlington.

Chapter 1 is the second chapter of the first season and the second chapter overall of Sweet Elite. It was released on June 4, 2018, and was developed and published by Dulcet Games Inc.

Summary[]

After being welcomed to Arlington Academy by the principal, Scholar heads to their dorm to unpack. They encounter Karolina, who warns them not to get on her bad side before leaving to go find a short haired girl.

During their exploration of the school's campus, Scholar bumps into Alistair and Tadashi before meeting a short haired girl named Neha. Scholar tells Neha that a girl named Karolina is looking for her, which quickly gets Neha on her feet. Continuing their wanderings, Scholar runs into Tegan, Raquel, Ellie, and Claire.

Throughout each of their interactions, Scholar notices that a few of them are in a hurry to be somewhere. When Scholar runs into Tadashi again, they learn why: everyone is going to the gym to get their pictures taken for their school file.

Rushing to their dorm, Scholar hastily dons their uniform then dashes to the gym. Upon entering the building, Scholar is approached by two students they had met earlier. After getting their pictures taken, Scholar hangs out with those students for the rest of the day.

Scholar goes to bed that night feeling like they have forgotten something important. When they wake up the next morning, they find out that the important thing they neglected to do was set their alarm. It is the first day of school, and they slept in late.

Plot[]

It takes a few seconds before Lady Arlington can speak again. Extending a hand to Scholar, she babbles a couple excuses before fulling regaining her composure. Smiling warmly, she welcomes Scholar to Arlington Academy before excusing herself. Retrieving Scholar's files from the floor, she walks off, leaving Scholar in the Main Hallway.

Scholar does not know what to make of the Dean's reaction, but they do not stew in it for long. Remembering that they still have luggage to unpack, they focus their attention on heading back to their dorm. The fact that they even have one still feels unbelievable to Scholar; they fully expect to wake up any second now and find themselves back in their room at home.

After arriving at their dorm, Scholar notes how much their preconceived notions about the academy contrasts with reality; while the furnishings used to fill the room are of high quality, it still looks cozy and simple. They remark aloud how silly it was for them to worry.

A voice asks them what they meant by that. Startled, Scholar turns around to see a girl with long red hair walk into their dorm. When they ask who she is, the girl boastfully announces herself to be Karolina Nováková, the school's resident model.

Karolina surveys Scholar, her sharp gaze making them feel as though they are being seen through. She asks Scholar for their name, which they give. Karolina correctly guesses that Scholar is a new student, based on their ignorance of who she is and how they very obviously have no idea what they are doing. Unable to deny this last point, Scholar notices that the hallway has a few bags leaning up against its walls. They guess that her dorm is next to theirs which Karolina confirms. That is why she is here, in fact: to warn Scholar that she will not tolerate horrible neighbors. Her former neighbor blasted his music until the early hours of the morning at least once a week. She implies that she did something to make that neighbor regret their actions, her glare implying a similar fate will happen to Scholar should they cross her.

Intimidated by Karolina, Scholar hastily reassures her that they will not pull anything like that. Karolina does not let them finish; she holds up a finger and pulls out her phone. Gasping at the time, she tells Scholar she must head out. She informs Scholar that she is looking for girl named Neha before walking away with a flip of her hair and a sway in her hips.

After she has left, Scholar cannot help but wonder if they will develop a migraine by the end of the day. Sighing, they decide to explore the campus and familiarize themselves with the layout of the academy's campus; the school year starts tomorrow and they do not want to get lost on the way to their classes.

Upon entering the lobby, they collide with another student. As they steady themselves, they note the students blond hair and muscular arms. The student greets them, a squeak leaving Scholar's mouth as they right themselves. They apologize which the student shrugs off, explaining that he was lost in thought as well. He asks if they are the new kid, which Scholar confirms. They introduce themselves and apologize again for stumbling into him. The student tells them not to worry, stating that his name is Alistair.

At that moment, a voice calls out his name. A lean boy with dark black hair walks to where Alistair and Scholar are standing. He begins to speak to Alistair when he notices Scholar. Scholar introduces themselves to him and holds out a hand. Shaking their hand, the dark haired boy introduces himself as Tadashi Nakano, the academy's student body president.

Scholar explains what they were doing. Tadashi tells them that both he and Alistair have stuff to do. Alistair objects: he was on his way to the gym, but Tadashi points out that he can workout after they have completed what they need do to. Alistair tries to compromise with Tadashi, saying he can catch up with him once he has finished.

Three options will appear: you can side with Alistair or Tadashi, or you can leave without saying anything.

(If you side with Alistair...)

Scholar tells Tadashi that it should not take that long for Alistair to do what he needs to. Alistair thanks Scholar for backing him up. Tadashi glares at them, telling Scholar that he did not ask for their opinion. Scholar realizes that making him angry was probably not the wisest thing to do.

Tadashi tells Alistair to find him when he is done. With one last look at Scholar, Tadashi scoffs at them before walking off. Alistair tells Scholar not to mind him, that that is just Tadashi's hard-headed nature showing. Bidding Scholar goodbye, Alistair returns Scholar's smile before leaving in the opposite direction of Tadashi.
(If you side with Tadashi...)

Scholar suggests to Alistair that it may be better if he gets done whatever it is they need to finish now. That way he would have the rest of the day free. Tadashi backs up Scholar. Irritated, Alistair complains that this would throw off his schedule. Tadashi assures Alistair that he will make it up to him.

Alistair and Tadashi begin to walk off, Alistair grumbling the whole way. At the end of the hallway, Tadashi turns back to Scholar to give them a short farewell.
(If you leave without saying anything...)
Scholar will remove themselves from Alistair and Tadashi's argument.

Continuing on with their wanderings, Scholar walks into the Cafeteria, the shear size of the place eliciting a wry remark. For the most part, the room is empty; the only inhabitants are Scholar themselves, a few kitchen workers, and girl with short brown hair fussing over her blouse.

The girl matches Karolina's description. Remember her request, Scholar walks up to the girl. She does not notice them at first, fretting over her ruined shirt instead. Making their presence known, the girl apologizes before explaining that she just spilled a lot of coffee on herself. Sighing, the girl abandons her attempts at saving her shirt and introduces herself as Neha.

Scholar states their name, then relays Karolina's message. Surprised, Neha gathers what is left of her breakfast then stands up. She rapidly asks for more information. Scholar cannot give her any, but Neha is already walking away from them, leaving Scholar to finish their response to empty air.

Leaving the cafeteria, Scholar strolls along the halls until they enter the Computer Lab. Inside is a boy with short red hair furiously typing away on his laptop's keyboard. Eyes red and eyebrows knitted together, he is so focused on his task that he does not hear Scholar approach him. Mumbling to himself, he anxiously proofreads his efforts before hitting the Enter key. Scholar sees a tiny movement on the boy's screen. Whatever was changed makes the boy give a little cry of victory.

Feeling like an intruder, Scholar turns to leave when the boy finally notices their presence. Clearing his throat, the boy's face reddens while he asks them if they need help. Mentally admonishing themselves for poking into the boy's business, Scholar dismisses his offer, explaining that they are merely looking around the school. They introduce themselves, walking up to the boy before extending their hand. Taking Scholar's hand, the boy introduces himself as Tegan.

Glancing back at the laptop, Scholar questions Tegan about his work. His eyes widening, Tegan quickly minimizes the program he had up, replacing it with a blank spreadsheet. He plays it off as just some schoolwork that he should get back to. Though not convinced, Scholar accepts this explanation, turning their gaze down towards the floor.

Two options will appear: you can leave or you can comment on Tegan's mismatched socks.

(If you leave without anything more...)
The conversation with Tegan will end.
(If you comment on Tegan's socks...)

Tegan jokes that he has another pair just like them. Scholar begins to laugh, startling Tegan. As he looks up at Scholar, they admit it took them a second to understand his joke. They compliment Tegan with a smile. Tegan shyly thanks them, making Scholar guess that not a lot of people understand the joke.

Scholar tells Tegan it was nice meeting him, but they should be on their way. Tegan returns the sentiment as Scholar walks out.

Making their way to the lobby, they hear someone shout at them in warning. Turning around, they see a girl wearing a ponytail kick a soccer ball straight at them. Scholar manages to deal with the ball before it hits them. The girl comments on their actions before apologizing. She explains that she just wanted to test their skills.

She introduces herself as Raquel, the soccer enthusiast. Scholar states their own name then correctly guesses that Raquel must be in the Athletics Department. Raquel remembers that she has something important that she needs to get done today. Picking up her soccer ball, she says farewell then leaves before waiting for a reply.

Scholar notes that this is not the first time someone has mentioned a prior arrangement. They wonder if there is something going on later today that they are not aware of. Brushing aside the thought, they continue exploring the school.

The next place they go to is Classroom 1. In one corner of the room, a girl with blonde pigtails is sorting through some scrap metal. She notices Scholar and greets them. Scholar introduces themselves and the girl does likewise; her name is Ellie Collins, president of Arlington's robotics club. Ellie invites Scholar to stay and watch while she finishes her task.

Two options will appear: you can accept Ellie's offer or say goodbye and leave.

(If you stay and watch...)

While watching Ellie slowly transform the scraps of metal into a contraption, they ask her for any advice. Giggling mildly, Ellie reminds them that, for all of Arlington's trappings, it is just another school. She advises Scholar to stay true to themselves, stand up to others, and avoid getting caught should they break any rules. She also recommends preparing themselves for Coach Davis' classes, as they can get pretty rough.

This last remark makes Scholar chuckle. They thank her for her advice and state that they should probably be on their way. The two students say their farewells and Scholar leaves the classroom.
(If you say goodbye and leave...)
The conversation with Ellie will end.

Scholar roams around some more, eventually finding themselves in the garden. Upon entering they are awed by just how many plants it holds. A voice states that there are about one hundred types here. Turning around, Scholar sees that the voice belongs to a girl with long blonde hair, kneeling in front of a rectangular pot.

Scholar greats the girl, admitting that they did not notice her. The girl states that it is easy for her to pass unnoticed. Scholar hesitantly informs the girl that they are new here. They apologize for any interruptions and introduce themselves. The girl reassures Scholar that they did not intrude, introducing herself as Claire.

The sound of an alarm ringing emanates from one of Claire's pockets. Taking out her phone, she glances at the screen before turning the alarm off. Claire excuses herself, saying she has to get going. Standing up, Claire dusts herself and leaves the garden, giving Scholar a small wave as she does.

Continuing on, Scholar enters the lobby when they hear someone call their name. Tadashi approaches them and inquires about their wanderings: it is apparent they have yet to get their picture taken for their student ID. At Scholar's confused expression, Tadashi sighs. He guesses that no one informed them about this. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Tadashi wonders aloud how this school has remained in tact for so long.

When prompted for an explanation, Tadashi explains that they should put on their uniform then hurry to the gym, since that is where the students are getting their pictures taken. He notes that if they do not, it will just end up being more paperwork for him.

Growing more befuddled, Scholar tries to process this information, but Tadashi interrupts; as an Arlington student, Scholar will represent the academy from now on. The administration requires files be made on each student, that way those files can be used by the world's top masters, universities, and companies. The files themselves record that student's ranking, strengths, weaknesses, and their academic and professional histories. Basically, it acts as comprehensive guide on who that student is.

Shocked, Scholar asks what he meant by "ranking". Exasperated, Tadashi starts to chide the senior students for not doing their job, but Scholar interrupts. Regaining control, Tadashi apologizes then launches into an explanation: the academy has a ranking system that takes into account everything a student did throughout that year. This includes their grades, skills, extra curricular activities, professional work, and any awards they obtained.

The ranking itself is split into three tiers: Bronze for the top 50, Silver for the top 20, and Gold for the top ten. Every student aims for a spot in Bronze, as that automatically suggests that that student is above average. However, scholarship students are required to reach the Silver tier in order to keep their scholarships.

Stunned more than ever, Scholar wonders to themselves just how they will be able to achieve this. Headless to their inner turmoil, Tadashi continues, explaining that getting into the Gold tier is one of the highest achievements a student can obtain. Students in this tier will be contacted by the country's top universities and businesses; celebrities and professionals will want to mentor them. Only the best of the best can get into Gold.

When asked about his own ranking, Tadashi smugly declares himself number one; Scholar can even check for themselves by looking at his file. Scholar assumed that the files were private which Tadashi corrects; everyone in the academy, student and faculty alike, can look at a student's file for reference purposes. Scholar parrots his last point, all the while internally panicking. Instead of answering Scholar's implied question, Tadashi reinforces just how important their school file is and that in order to start building one they will need to get their picture taken.

Incredibly anxious now, Scholar marvels at how everything at Arlington seems to be so meticulously planned. Tadashi urges Scholar to get moving before leaving. Flustered, Scholar woefully remembers that they have spent the whole day moving around, and now they have to get their picture taken. Not only that, but everyone will be able to see both that picture and their personal information. Feeling worn down, Scholar wishes they could take a nap so that they might have time to process everything.

Rallying their energy, Scholar hurries to their dorm and dons their uniform. Though dissatisfied with their appearance, they cannot do much about it. Rushing to the gym, they get in line behind two other students.

One out of four pairs of students will appear: Karolina and Neha, Ellie and Tegan, Claire and Raquel, or Alistair and Tadashi. Who appears is decided by which character's infinity is the highest. In the event of a tie, the pairing is chosen alphabetically.

(If Karolina and/or Neha's infinities are the highest...)

Karolina makes a wry comment while Neha greets Scholar. Scholar asks them both if they have yet to get their pictures taken. Neha starts to say something, but gets cut off by Karolina, who explains that she was busy redecorating her dorm. It is not finished yet, but she admits that having the time to prepare was beneficial; she flicks her hair then gestures to herself while not so subtly boasting about her beauty.

Scholar turns to Neha and asks what she was doing. Neha says that she was helping Karolina, but the odd monotone in which she answers strikes Scholar as odd. However, Neha is smiling at them, so they dismiss it.

A couple minutes later, they have finished getting their pictures taken. Neha invites Scholar to help them continue decorating Karolina's dorm. Scholar accepts and Karolina does not complain, just glad for an extra set of hands. Scholar ends up having fun, even with a bunch of glue and wallpaper sticking to their person.
(If Ellie and/or Tegan's infinities are the highest...)

Scholar hears someone calling their name. Tegan and Ellie approach Scholar. Scholar greats them, guessing that they too have yet to get their pictures taken. Tegan confirms this, stating that they both lost track of time. Ellie admits that this happens a lot, but she is not concerned by it; after all, this just means that they will be able to hang out with Scholar some more. This elicits a smile from Scholar.

After all three of them get their pictures taken, Tegan invites Scholar to play some video games with him and Ellie. Ellie teases Tegan about his uncharacteristic boldness, making Tegan blush and bow his head. Tegan assures Scholar that if they want to bow out, that will be fine, but Scholar accepts his offer.

The three of them head to Tegan's dorm, where they hunker down and play some video games. Despite her best efforts, Ellie keeps losing and her feigned ire draws laughter from both Tegan and Scholar. Scholar is surprised and relieved by how relaxed they feel around these two, even though they had just met.
(If Claire and/or Raquel's infinities are the highest...)

Raquel asks Scholar if they are here to get their picture taken too. Scholar confirms her guess, admitting that their exploration of the school took too long. Turning to Claire, Scholar asks for her reason. Claire explains that she went to find Raquel after her and Scholar's chat, but when she got there, she remembered that Raquel had practice. Raquel finishes, saying that that was why they both ended up being late.

Claire apologizes, which Raquel dismisses, pointing out that it was not her fault; she is the one who constantly forgets about this stuff, anyway. Scholar points out that at least they are all here now, eliciting smiles from both Claire and Raquel.

After their pictures have been taken, Raquel invites Scholar to join her and Claire in the school's garden. As it happens, Claire is incredibly knowledgeable about the various plants within. She enthusiastically discusses each plant's various properties. Combined with Raquel's jokes, Scholar winds up having a lot of fun. So much so in fact that all three of them end up talking until nightfall. At that point, the three students reluctantly agree that they should head to the dorms.
(If Alistair and/or Tadashi's infinities are the highest...)

Alistair calls out to Scholar, waving them over. Scholar walks towards the two. Tadashi is glad they were able to make it. Scholar notes that, despite his insistence on not being late, here he is. Scholar cocks their head to the side with a raised eyebrow. Smirking, Tadashi responds that he had spent the whole day working, unlike a certain someone. Alistair objects at that comment, but Tadashi confirms that he was not talking about him. Scholar gives a short laugh before shaking their head at them both.

Once their pictures have been taken, Alisair invites Scholar to join his and Tadashi's study session. While initially thinking such a task would be boring, Scholar admits that watching Tadashi and Alistair banter makes it a lot more fun. Before long, they manage to get themselves caught up on most of the things they missed the previous year. Scholar believes that they could not have found a better pair of students to study with.

After returning to their dorm, Scholar realizes just how exhausted they are. They reflect on everything they had experienced throughout the day, feeling overwhelmed by the general other-worldliness of the students and the slew of information they learned. Of particular note is the revelation that they will have to keep themselves in the top 20 in order to stay at the academy. The shear amount of hard work they will have to do to maintain that position makes them realize that there will not be much time for them to goof off, including making friends.

Disheartened by this epiphany, they ask themselves if slaving away to make it into the Silver tier will really be worth all of that. Postponing an answer, they decide to get ready for bed. Classes start tomorrow and if they want to excel at this school, they will need to be prepared.

Changing in their pajamas, they ignore the rest of their unpacked luggage and crawl into bed. While making themselves comfortable, they feel like they might have forgotten something important but their exhaustion makes them unable to figure out what that might be.

The next morning, they are startled awake as the warm rays of the sun touches their face. Hurriedly checking the time, Scholar is horrified to learn that they slept in. Rushing out of bed, they hastily put on their uniform, admonishing themselves all the while.

Dialogue Guide[]

Key[]

  • Green answers will raise a character's infinity. +
  • Red answers will lower a character's infinity. -
  • Blue answers won't have any effect on a character's infinity. =
  • Black answers are unknowns; the affect that answer has on a character's infinity has not been discovered.

NOTE: The amount of infinity given/taken per answer can change between a friendship and romance choice.

Notes[]

In this chapter, the illustration is dependent on the love interest's infinities.

  • If you want Karolina and Neha's illustration, then raise Karolina, Neha's or both of their infinities.
  • If you want Ellie and Tegan's illustration, then raise Ellie, Tegan's or both of their infinities.
